Posted online
Houses sold in the Show-Me State during the second quarter fetched an average price of $173,436, representing a 7 percent increase over the $162,736 average in the same quarter a year ago, according to data released this week by the Missouri Association of Realtors.

The number of homes sold, at 19,312, was roughly flat in the quarter, compared to 19,378 sold in second-quarter 2013, according to a news release.

Realtors did sell homes quicker, however. Missouri homes sold during the second quarter stayed on the market an average 125 days, down from 129 days a year earlier.

June figures were favorable compared to the same month of last year.

Last month, Missouri real estate agents sold 6,810 homes, a 3.5 percent increase compared to 6,579 in June 2013, according to the release.

The average price of homes sold rose 12 percent to $191,059 in June, compared to $171,146 a year ago. Homes also sat on the market an average 122 days, compared to 125 days a year ago.

"With solid home sales and healthy price appreciation, the current state of Missouri real estate shows strong trends with favorable conditions for both buyers and sellers," MAR reports.[[In-content Ad]]
