Posted online

Springfield’s foreclosure rate dropped to 0.4 percent in May, well below that of the state and nation.

The Queen City rate dropped from 0.6 percent in the same month last year, according to news release from real estate market tracker CoreLogic.

Across Missouri, the foreclosure rate moved down to 0.57 percent in May, compared to 0.63 percent in May 2014. The U.S. rate changed to 1.29 percent, down from 1.73 percent last May.

A CoreLogic map (see below) of surrounding counties indicates a majority of Greene County had foreclosure rates below 0.8 percent in May. All areas in neighboring Webster County were below 0.8 percent.

In Springfield, the mortgage delinquency rate - representing loans at least 90 days delinquent - dropped to 1.7 percent from 2.2 percent a year earlier. Missouri’s rate decreased to 2.7 percent, while the U.S. figure moved down to 3.6 percent, according to the release.
