O'Reilly Development starts $22M senior community project

One of two Kansas City-area projects under way by O’Reilly Development Co. LLC, the Springfield firm has begun work on a $22 million senior living community in Blue Springs.

Springfield-based general contractor Build LLC broke ground yesterday on 15 acres south of Interstate 70 for The Parkway Senior Living. Approved last year by the Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee, the continuum of care community is designed with 40 assisted living units, 32 memory care units and 76 independent living units, according to a news release.

Springfield First Community Bank is providing the financing, and Kansas City-based SWD Architects is the project architect. Design features include a theater room, public dining, exercise and social rooms, and a beauty shop, as well as kitchen and washer and dryer appliances in each living unit.

Completion is scheduled for mid-2015, the release said.

Last year, O’Reilly Development received city approval and tax incentives for a $35 million redevelopment plan of the former Folgers plant complex in downtown Kansas City. Working with contractor Build LLC and designer SWD Architects, O’Reilly is turning the 100-year-old structures into nearly 150 apartments.

Owned by Pat O’Reilly, a member of the O’Reilly Automotive Inc. family, O’Reilly Development received state approval in September to partner with Joplin master planner Wallace Bajjali Development Partners LP to build a $35 million transitional senior living community in the city’s redevelopment area following the 2011 EF5 tornado. The certificate of need approved by the Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee includes an 80-bed assisted living center and 100 independent living units on 20 acres.[[In-content Ad]]
