Great Southern chairman buys, sells shares

Great Southern Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: GSBC) Chairman William Turner this week bought and sold company shares, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

On July 27, Turner sold 5,000 shares at $39.54 apiece, or $197,685. He also acquired 5,000 shares at $30.66 apiece for an investment of $153,300, according to the filing.

Earlier this month, Great Southern reported smaller share acquisitions by two of its officers.

On July 11, Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer Steven Mitchem acquired 351 shares at $36.72 apiece, or $12,890.

The same day, Senior Vice President of Information Systems Linton Thomason purchased 37 shares at $36.72, or $1,359, according to SEC filings.

During the second quarter, Great Southern posted net income available to common shareholders of $12.5 million, a 5.7 percent bump from $11.9 million in earnings a year earlier.

GSBC shares were trading at $39.05 as of 1:16 p.m. on Thursday, compared with a 52-week range of $34.48 to $52.94.
