The Mentors Project: Brooke Bigham

MENTEE
I have mutual mentor relationships with successful women, such as Candy Letterman at Arvest Bank, Amanda Kastler at Elliott, Robinson & Co. LLP, Lacy Martin at Commerce Bank, Suzanne Shaw at Missouri State University, Linda Ramey-Greiwe at Care to Learn, etc. We meet regularly – formally and informally – to encourage, collaborate, mentor and empower one another.

OBJECTIVE
I believe strongly in mentoring fellow women in business (and) age shouldn’t be a factor; everyone can learn something. I believe these mentor relationships go further, accomplish more and last longer than a traditional arrangement.

HOW
In small groups on a consistent basis to visit about challenges we are experiencing or opportunities we are considering. These ladies are the first I reach out to if I am seeking a connection or suggestion.

CHALLENGES
We believe and discuss often how we can be a part of changing the percentage of women on corporate boards. Women bring a special and unique business perspective to the boardroom. As more women serve on corporate and nonprofit boards, other women will see the opportunities available and step up to the plate.
