Micah Scott earned his spot as a Guaranty Bank officer at an early age through hard work and a proven desire to expand the tools available to him to meet the needs of small-business clients. Scott was instrumental in the process that resulted in Guaranty achieving its status as a Small Business Administration Preferred Lender in 2011, as well as the Missouri Linked Deposit Program offered through the state treasurer’s office. Scott also puts his acumen for banking and finance to work through his civic endeavors as chairmen of the assessment committee for Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks and as a member of the Corporate Mentor program at Missouri State University.
What was your first job? I was a washman at a John Deere dealer outside Lockwood for four summers. Although I enjoyed many parts of the job, I quickly realized that attending and completing college was a necessity after much of the dirt and grease on the equipment ended up all over me.
What is your best productivity hack? Deadlines. They force me to put my head down and get the job done.
When did you realize you had grown up? After graduating college, I moved to Kansas City to work for the Federal Reserve. My dad helped me move into an apartment, and once he left, I was all by myself, which was something I had never experienced before.
How many times do you hit the snooze button in the morning? Four to five times; it’s pathetic.
What about your job would shock clients? That bankers’ hours no longer exist.
