Posted online
If 13 years at Commerce Bank have taught Lacy Martin anything, it’s effective management skills. Formerly an organizational development training specialist for the company in St. Louis, she currently serves the Springfield market as regional vice president and retail banking group manager. In addition to coaching 17 employees to promotions, Martin helps the company transition bank tellers into personal bankers. She’s well-matched to the task, having help create a training program now being used in other company markets. Her work extends to the local community, where she has chaired several Junior League of Springfield committees and currently serves on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

What was your first job? In the bookkeeping department at The Seymour Bank when I was in high school.

What is your theme song?  “Happy,” by Pharrell Williams.

When did you realize you had grown up? The first time I had to pay taxes.

What is your best productivity hack? Keeping a hand-written journal that I take notes from meetings, to-do, etc.

What historical figure do you identify with most?
Rosie the Riveter – just a regular hard-working woman representing and boosting morale for other women and their communities.

What do you miss most about the 1990s?
The music and big hair.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
The Force.
