2016 40 Under 40 Honoree: Amanda Kastler, 35

Posted online
One year ago, Amanda Kastler became the first female partner in Elliott, Robinson & Co. LLP’s 43-year history. Her six male partners trusted her leadership, client and staff relationships, and her technical abilities to be a contributing member of the firm. Additionally, her husband’s career as a Greene County deputy led to awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence in the area and a primary reason for calls to law enforcement. Appalled by the issue, she continues to donate her time and professional skills as a board member for Harmony House – one of the largest domestic violence shelters in Missouri – assisting with its annual audit, as well as serving as a resource to staff when accounting issues arise.

What was your first job? A staff accountant at Elliott, Robinson & Co. LLP. First job ever was busser/waitress/cook at a restaurant in Camdenton.

When did you realize you had grown up? I think some would question whether I have…

What was your professional “aha” moment? Being in a client meeting, as an observer only, but actually understanding the entire discussion.

What do you miss most about the 1990s? The cartoons. Cartoons today are no good.

What is your best productivity hack?
Closing my office door.

What did you learn the hard way? Life isn’t always fair.
