2016 Trusted Advisers Accountant: Angela Patrick

Posted online
Angela Patrick hopes her clients understand her level of investment in helping them succeed.

“I feel personally invested in their success and hope they perceive me as one of their biggest champions,” says Patrick, shareholder at KPM CPAs PC. “I hope my clients would say I am part of their success. I proactively look for ways to help them keep tax liabilities to a manageable level, allowing them to strategically invest those tax savings back into the growth of their business.”

Patrick does this in a number of specific ways, such as through software and computer consulting. She’s helped her clients better understand their accounting services and enabled them to use it as a tool in their everyday business operations.

Patrick earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Missouri State University and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Missouri Society of CPAs.

Perviously with the firm of Davis, Lynn & Moots PC before its 2014 merger with KPM, Patrick was voted by her peers to serve on KPM’s executive committee. She specializes in corporate, partnership and individual tax planning and compliance, and she’s skilled in small-business accounting and tax consultation.

“Throughout my more than 27-year career, I have helped my clients with a variety of services, including taxation, computer consulting, payroll, small-business consulting and accounting,” Patrick says. “I have built strong relationships with them as I am invested in their personal and financial well-being and am proud to also call many of them my friends.”

Michele Day is one of those clients.

“We have used Angie’s professional services for both our business and personal tax advising for many years,” says Day, owner of American Glass, founded in 1967 with two locations in the Ozarks. “Our relationship with her has grown from merely a tax adviser/client relationship to one in which we call each other friend.”

Day has used the services of other tax professionals, but she believes Patrick stands out.

“One of the most remarkable qualities that Angie exhibits is her ability to remember the nuances of our business,” she says. “We may mention in passing our desire to purchase a new piece of equipment, enter a new market or concerns we may be having with personnel. When we meet with her again six months later, she recalls perfectly any of our prior discussions.”

Patrick’s recall saves Day time, which she can spend investing on other endeavors. It’s that special touch – more than just the person who computes tax liability – that Day says makes Patrick special.

“The care and consideration Angie puts into her career shows, and we are thankful for every chance we get to work with her,” she says.

In addition to serving her clients, Patrick believes involvement in the community is important. For 20 years, she served on Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks Inc.’s board; she is a past board member of The Tooth Truck Inc.; and she volunteers at the Westport Warehouse Cents of Pride store.
