A year can make all the difference. For Marc Truby, the former executive director of the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce, the change to an account executive at Radiophone Engineering Inc. in Springfield is a positive one.

“It’s a totally different change of pace,” he says.

Truby started his new position at the mobile-radio dealers in January after abruptly resigning from the bedroom-community chamber in December. Chamber Board of Directors Chairwoman Beth Biondo called the move unexpected, noting his letter of resignation simply stated he wanted to “pursue other opportunities that are currently available to him.”

These days, Truby still doesn’t want to open up about why he left the chamber’s helm after three years, but he feels Radiophone Engineering is a great fit for him.

“I’m not going to make any comments on that outside of the fact that I was looking for other opportunities. This opportunity came calling, and I joined an awesome small business,” he says. “I’m a very happy camper.”

One thing is clear – Nixa still is home for the Truby family.

“I’m still active in the community,” he says. “I may be running for city council next year. I hung on to a couple of board positions that are still near and dear to me in the community. I’m just going gung ho with my new position here, and I’m as happy as I can be.”

As part his 40 Under 40 honor, Truby was recognized last year for serving on five local boards of directors – Nixa Community Foundation, Least Of These, Care to Learn, Azalea Association and the Nixa Public Schools.
