Bill Miller
, certified public accountant and co-owner of Miller & Associates CPAs and Advisors LLC, was awarded the Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies. Miller specializes in business and retirement planning.

KPM CPAs PC added five interns. Melissa Bunch, Lauren Lock and Casey Stovall are pursuing bachelor’s degrees in accounting at Missouri State University; Austin Hart is pursuing accounting and finance degrees at Drury University; and Seohyun Sanchez holds a bachelor’s in accounting from MSU.

Architecture
Buxton Kubik Dodd Creative hired Nathan Riley as an architecture mechanical engineer. Riley earned a bachelor’s in architectural engineering from Kansas State University. He is certified in four states.

Government
State Rep. Lynn Morris was selected to serve as a member of the Subcommittee on Government Oversight-Mental Health and Social Services. Members examine and oversee federal funds used by the departments of Mental Health, and Health and Social Services.

Health Care
Phoenix Home Care and Hospice hired Melanie Upshaw as hospice administrator. She has 12 years of health care experience and a bachelor’s in marketing management from MSU.

Cox Medical Center South and Cox Medical Center Branson received four-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, which ranks hospitals based on mortality, safety, effectiveness and timeliness of care, readmissions, patient experience and efficient use of medical imaging.

Hospitality
The Best Western Route 66 Rail Haven
received the Best Western Chairman’s Award, the hotel chain’s highest honor for outstanding quality standards. Built in 1938, the hotel is Best Western’s oldest property.

The Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks ranked No. 2 in Top 25 Small Hotels in the U.S. and No. 5 in Top 25 Hotels for Service by the 2017 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards.

Law
Neale & Newman LLP named W. Bradley Risby as partner. He chairs the firm’s business law practice committee and earned his law degree from University of Missouri-Columbia.

Marketing
Ollis/Akers/Arney hired Heather Douglas as personal lines account manager. She has five years of insurance industry experience as a customer service representative and associate underwriter, and she has a bachelor’s in business from MSU.

Hogan Land Title Co. hired Kara Cox as processor/escrow officer at its East Republic Road office. She previously worked at Mercy Orthopedic Hospital-Springfield and is a CrossFit Springfield coach.

Nonprofit
Vision Rehabilitation Center of the Ozarks made appointments to its 2017 board of directors. New board members: John Gresham, retired disability resource counselor at Ozarks Technical Community College; Nicole Hanlin, counselor at Rehabilitation Services For the Blind; Becky Jenkins, occupational therapy program director at OTC; and Katherine Nordyke, director of citizenship and service-learning at MSU. New officers: Carol Van Rhein of Rehabilitation Services For the Blind and Brandi Casteel of Mercy Clinic Eye Specialists.  

OATS Inc. appointed Krissy Sinor as a member of its board of directors. She currently serves as the training coordinator for the Springfield-Greene County Library, where she has worked for nine years.
