Tire, wheel store to be built on vacant south-side land

Posted online

A second RNR Wheels & Tires shop in Springfield is planned on vacant land two miles south of James River Freeway on Campbell Avenue.

The $600,000 store, 5640 S. Campbell Ave., is designed by Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc. Architect Geoffrey Butler said the 6,000-square-foot store being built by Dock Brothers Construction is scheduled to wrap in the spring.

Butler also is a partner in Springfield Land & Development Co. LLC, which owns 11 acres of development-ready land split into seven parcels on South Campbell. The sale of the 1-acre tract near Community Blood Center closed in mid-October for an undisclosed price.

A Springfield building permit lists David Harrison as the property owner. According to TireBusiness.com, Harrison is a franchisee of Tampa, Florida-based RNR who operates stores in the Paragould, Arkansas, area. Harrison could not be reached for comment by deadline.

An RNR store also operates at 2545 N. Glenstone Ave. The company has around 60 stores in the United States offering installation of tires and wheels from such brands as Dub, KMC, Lexani, Michelin and Goodyear, according to its website.
