Mercy seeks 550 hires

Mercy Springfield Communities is scheduled to host a summer recruitment barbecue event this week.

The health system will seek 550 hires in clinical and nonclinical positions from 4-8 p.m. on Aug. 4 at Hammons Heart Institute, 1325 E. Cherokee St. The job categories include nursing, patient care, therapy, clerical, laboratory, pharmacy, environmental services and food services, according to a news release.

“We have more than 25 Mercy departments participating in this event,” said Laura Starks, executive director of talent selection for Mercy’s regional efforts, in the release. “So we’ll be filling a wide variety of positions with needs for all kinds of different skillsets and educational levels.”

Mercy Springfield Communities reported 9,096 employees to rank No. 1 on Springfield Business Journal’s 2016 list of the area’s largest employers in the five-county metropolitan statistical area. Its 2015 revenue in the MSA was listed at $1.6 billion.
