Posted online
Kristal Gaines’ works days as sales and marketing manager at the Springfield franchise of moving company Two Men and a Truck, but her passion is helping families feed their pets. Since co-founding Republic Paw Pantry, the nonprofit has helped feed more than 1,500 pets – and get them off the streets and out of shelters – through donations of pet food and supplies. Gaines is fighting to keep her passion alive. Due to lack of funds, the Republic Paw Pantry is crowdfunding to keep its office open. A personal mantra is keeping her going. No matter what life throws at her, she never gives up.

What was your first job? I worked for my uncle as his office assistant when I was 15.

What is your theme song? I had to take a quiz to figure this one out – “Another One Bites The Dust.” I would assume it’s because I go, go, go! It’s hard to keep up with me.

What did you learn the hard way? How to parallel park, I still cannot do it.

What are you doing to make the Ozarks better?  I love helping people and their pets. I am doing my part by helping families keep their pets in their time of crisis.

What is your best productivity hack? Make a list. I love the idea of scratching things off, makes me feel like I accomplish things.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
To fly, I want to see the world!

What app gets you through the day?
Starbucks, Yelp, Facebook, MyFitnessPal and Words with Friends.
