WhatsApp to share phone numbers with Facebook

Global messaging service WhatsApp says it will start sharing the phone numbers of its users with Facebook, its parent company.

Facebook plans to use the information to target more ads on the social media platform, though not on the messaging app itself.

WhatsApp users have a limited window to opt out.
