Qualcomm to buy NXP Semiconductors in $47B deal

Qualcomm announced today plans to buy NXP Semiconductors for an enterprise value of about $47 billion.

The deal would give Qualcomm, which currently supplies chips to Android smartphone makers and Apple, more access to the fast-growing automotive industry.

The deal is expected to close by the end of 2017.
