Pita Pit
Husband-and-wife David and Penny Inlow opened a Pita Pit franchise Dec. 14 in the Fremont Shopping Center at 1318 E. Battlefield Road. David Inlow was introduced to the roughly 300-unit Toronto-based franchise concept while on a business trip to St. Louis, and the couple were attracted to Pita Pit’s healthier menu options. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and kid’s menus all day, and wraps cost $5 to $6 with vegetarian and vegan options available. Penny Inlow, who runs the restaurant and has 15 years of experience as a waitress, said the local specialties are the cheddar chicken pesto and barbecue beef wraps. Through D.P. Ventures Inc., the Inlows bought the Springfield franchise rights for $25,000 and spent about $275,000 in new equipment and renovations of the unit previously occupied by Quiznos subs. The Inlows employ 12 at the restaurant, which occupies 2,000 square feet of space leased from R.B. Murray Co. for five years at $2,761 a month, she said. Hours: 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday. Phone: (417) 883-1565. Web: PitaPitUSA.com
