KKR to buy WebMD in $2.8 billion deal

Medical website WebMD Corp. (Nasdaq: WBMD) has agreed to a $2.8 billion purchase by private equity firm KKR & Co. (NYSE: KKR).

According to Reuters, the parties agreed to a 20.5 percent premium, or $66.50 per share, of WebMD’s Friday closing. The website’s shares closed July 21 at $55.19. KKR’s closing price that day was $19.38 per share.
