500 million Yahoo accounts breached

Yahoo announced yesterday information from at least 500 million email accounts was stolen from the company in 2014.

Company officials say the information may have includes names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, and in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers.

The theft is thought to be the largest ever in terms of user accounts.

Yahoo officials indicated the breach was a state-sponsored attack.
