Work to start this summer on $15M Branson upgrade project

Posted online

With grant funding secured, a $15.2 million upgrade to the Compton Drive Wastewater Treatment Plant in Branson is in sight after years in the making.

Construction is scheduled to start in June on a flood wall that will serve as a barrier between the facility and the adjacent Lake Taneycomo, according to a news release. Gov. Mike Parson was among state officials who visited the 601 Compton Drive treatment plant on April 14 to recognize the grant funding and impending start of construction.

“We are grateful to our partners for their dedication to a project so very important to our citizens and our community,” Branson Mayor Larry Milton said in the release. “Our team of leaders with the city of Branson also deserve great thanks for moving this much-needed project forward."

The project is financed by some $13 million in grants secured during 2020 and 2021. Roughly $10 million was awarded by the Missouri Department of Economic Development through U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funding, and $3 million came from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, according to the release.

City officials now are taking project bids through early May. The construction project is slated for completion in fall 2024.
