With law, real estate backgrounds, Tolberts start brokerage

Veteran Springfield attorney Terry Tolbert and his wife, Kat, have added a real estate brokerage to the market. 

Tolbert Realtors launched in October inside the Tolbert & Beadle LLC law office building, 3010 E. Battlefield, Ste. C, and the couple serve as managing brokers, according to a news release. 

Kat Tolbert left Murney Associates, Realtors to start the new venture, according to the release. 

“We wanted to start this brokerage as a way for other experienced agents to allow for more revenue, while also leveraging the knowledge that Terry and I have with more than 20 years of experience in technology, real estate and legal practice,” she said in the release. “In addition, we understand that the world has shifted to a more work-from-home environment and our brokerage fully supports that model.” 

Kat joined Murney Associates in 2016 and previously worked in information technology, according to her LinkedIn profile. 

Terry remains a partner in the personal injury and workers’ compensation firm with William Beadle. He’s practiced law for about 25 years and will not be involved in the day-to-day business of the brokerage, said spokesperson Emily Laurie of Laurie Marketing LLC, via email.  

The release points to Kat’s real estate record: In the last four years, she sold more than 50 homes with a sales volume of $7 million, citing Greater Springfield Board of Realtors data. The release said she also has received silver and bronze medals for sales volume and was a candidate for GSBOR’s Rookie of the Year in 2017.
