SAFER STREETS
Tim Garrison, at left, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri, swears in Missouri Assistant Attorney General Caleb Aponte on Aug. 21 in Kansas City as part of the Safer Streets Initiative to fight violent crime. State Attorney General Eric Schmitt added five special assistant U.S. attorneys to the program – including attorney Anthony Brown and legal secretary Susan Frizzell in the Springfield district. Those sworn into the program, which launched earlier this year, can seek federal charges in violent crime cases they’re working. “Five talented attorneys and staff members from the attorney general’s office will work side by side with our federal partners to add more prosecutorial might to combat rising violent crime rates in Kansas City and Springfield,” Schmitt said in a news release.
