United Way of the Ozarks yesterday announced the hiring of a new director of resource development.

Vickie Hicks started in the role March 9, according to a news release. Her 25-year career includes stints as community engagement leader for Thrivent Financial, corporate relations specialist for Missouri State University and marketing director for KPM CPAs PC.

“Vickie’s background will help continue United Way of the Ozarks’ transformation. She will be a great fit on our team," said Greg Burris, the nonprofit's president and CEO, in the release.

In the position, Hicks is charged with working with corporate and individual donors, as well as employee payroll campaigns.

Reached this morning, Hicks said she succeeded Danielle Conti, who moved out of Springfield to be closer to family. Conti’s LinkedIn profile indicates she started in January as director of development for the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange. Hicks said she works on resource development for United Way with Rachael Walsh, who has the same job title.

United Way, which has a budget of $2.5 million, works through agencies to fund community programs in health, education and financial stability in a 14-county area, according to the release.
