Minimally viable product …
A nationally recognized brand that creates digital content for the outdoor industry. Weekend Warrior Fisherman is a brand designed for the outdoor industry for those who primarily recreate or have goal-driven outdoor adventures on the weekends. We offer digital content production services through Beyond Adventure Productions.

Problem solving …
To create digital content designed for social media platforms for individuals and organizations. We help others document their adventures, stories and market their products. Weekend Warrior Fisherman was established in June 2016 as a concept between two kayak tournament anglers. The initial concept was to deliver educational content to those seeking information to maximize their time in the outdoors on the weekends. In 2017, we added the entertainment aspect to our content with photography and videography expertise on staff.

Seed money …
$5,000 to $10,000

Hurdles overcome …
We are still in a testing phase with some of our concepts and designs. Understanding what the market desires without compromising our core competencies has been our biggest hurdle.

Next phase …
We are ramping up for our product launch in 2019. Promotional content and marketing strategies will be designed and finalized by first quarter.

Biggest mistake …
It would have been nice to have had a clear vision in the beginning instead of spending resources testing other avenues. Research and development and the cost associated with it is part of the game.

Greatest need …
Time! Not enough hours in the day when you are a Weekend Warrior.

Food for thought …
It’s not easy. Patience and perseverance is a must when doing a startup. Many books and courses have been written about this topic but until you experience it firsthand, only then will you understand your capabilities and limits. I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of several startups in my career and the experience is priceless. Failure is part of the game, as well, but don’t let that discourage you (too long). Fail fast and move forward.
