SPS pens deal to sell 29 acres in southwest Springfield

Springfield Public Schools entered an $830,000 contract to sell 29 acres in southwest Springfield to a group of real estate developers.

Located at Golden Street and Weaver Road, the land is the district’s unused south tract of the David Harrison Elementary School campus, 3055 W. Kildee Lane. The vacant land was declared as surplus property in July 2018, according to a news release. SPS owns nearly 60 acres via three parcels at the intersection, with the northernmost portion housing the school and a residence, according to Greene County assessor records.

The contract with buyer Project Collective LLC was approved during the SPS Board of Education’s April 23 meeting. The release did not detail Project Collective’s plans for the property, and a district spokesperson this morning was unable to provide contact information for the owners.

Missouri secretary of state records list Project Collective’s December 2015 organizers as Branson-based Woodstone Properties LLC and Springfield companies JN Properties LLC and Global S LLC. Partners Brian Stewart, Jason Finley and Shannon McMurdo, who together have worked on a project portfolio including The Edge gated residential community and a planned multifamily apartment complex at 3411 S. Kansas Ave., could not be reached for comment by deadline.

Stewart separately owns businesses including Deerbrook Properties LLC and BKS Real Estate Investors LLC, while Finley owns Nixa’s Finley Construction LLC and McMurdo is president of commercial, hospitality and residential contractor Woodstone Builders in Branson.

The acreage under contact is northeast of the Golden-Weaver intersection and across the street from Graceway Baptist Church.
