Springfield Public Schools hired a new executive.
Bill Redinger, who's currently assistant superintendent of human resource services for Park Hill School District in Kansas City, is scheduled to join SPS as chief human resources officer on July 1, 2022, according to a news release. He'll succeed Penney Rector, who announced her retirement from the district earlier this year.
“As a former teacher, principal and school superintendent, I have always measured my success in terms of the students I serve,” Redinger said in the release. “My wife is a former SPS teacher, and our children began school at Wilder Elementary. The potential to move my leadership to Springfield is exciting to me.”
As chief human resources officer for SPS, Redinger will be responsible for hiring, onboarding, evaluating and supporting the district's workforce of more than 3,500 people.
After her scheduled exit from SPS on Dec. 31, Rector is planning to start a local law office for St. Louis-based Mickes O'Toole LLC, according to past reporting.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
