Springfieldian named CEO of KC startup

Posted online

A Kansas City building analytics software startup with an Efactory presence tapped a Springfield resident as its new CEO.

Brett Krug, who started March 1, said he intends to remain in Springfield as he helms PlanIT Impact. With co-working space in the Efactory, Krug took over for company founder Dominique Davison, who became chief sustainability officer, according to a news release.

“Brett’s experience, focus and energy will be invaluable in taking PlanIT Impact to the next level,” Davison said in the release. “Having a partner who knows our industry as well as how to navigate the next steps in scaling a startup will accelerate our already rapid growth.

PlanIT Impact builds software to help architects, engineers, property managers and building owners access cost-benefit insights and other services. It has raised more than $1.7 million in capital, according to the release.

Krug most recently worked for nearly two years as an executive coach and adviser to technology CEOs, according to his LinkedIn profile. Before that, he worked in Springfield for BKD LLP as national director of innovation.

At the Efactory, PlanIT Impact is among tenants that bring the business incubator to 89% occupancy, said Paige Oxendine, its program coordinator.

Krug said that while PlanIT Impact started in Kansas City, it’s an entirely remote company with employees worldwide.

“There is some great technical talent in Springfield, and at the Efactory, where I have previously invested financially as an angel investor beyond PlanIT Impact,” he said via email. “I think there is a lot of talent here in the Springfield area that we will be looking at and may bring on board as the organization grows and scales.”
