Springfield-based national nonprofit Fight Colorectal Cancer is teaming up with Chicago-based Dude Wipes on a marketing and sponsorship campaign.
Dude Wipes, which produces flushable hygiene wipes marketed to men and has appeared on "Shark Tank," will launch a series on its blog highlighting Fight CRC's work and support the nonprofit's events, according to a news release. The value of the deal was not disclosed, and officials could not be reached for comment by deadline.
"These men need to understand their risk of developing a deadly yet preventable cancer, and it’s our understanding they shy away from discussing it," Dude Wipes officials said in the release. "We hope that if they see Dude Wipes talking about topics they tend to avoid, they’ll be more open to not only discussing their risk but ultimately getting screened."
Officials with Fight CRC say 1 in 23 men are at risk of developing colorectal cancer in their lifetime. Fight CRC relocated to Springfield from Alexandria, Virginia, in 2016. It operates downtown. For its fiscal year that ended June 30, 2020, the nonprofit reported $5.3 million in revenue, according to its website.
Dude Wipes in 2015 was on television show "Shark Tank," striking a $300,000 investment deal with billionaire Mark Cuban, according to the company's website.
