Cronkhite Homes LLC, which ranked first on a Springfield Business Journal list this year of the area's largest single-family homebuilders, has been acquired.

Joplin-based Schuber Mitchell Homes LLC announced the purchase of Cronkhite Homes in a news release. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and company officials could not be reached for comment by deadline.

“We are excited about the possibilities that this acquisition brings to Schuber Mitchell Homes,” said Aaron Eidson, the company's senior director of operations, in the release. “By combining our strengths and expertise, we are well-positioned to continue their legacy of excellence serving the Springfield community.”

Officials said in the release that "Schuber Mitchell Homes is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for Cronkhite Homes and its employees" and that "current customers of Cronkhite Homes can expect uninterrupted service and support during this transition."

Cronkhite Homes ranked No. 1 on SBJ's list in January of the area's largest single-family homebuilders with $58 million in estimated value of homes completed in 2023, up from $40 million the year prior. Additionally, company officials said they built 218 homes in 2023, up from 130 in 2022, with a price range of $207,950 to $428,000.

Representative contracts reported by Cronkhite Homes for the SBJ list included Olde Savannah, Copper Leaf, Silver Maple Estates and Southwind Village.

Schuber Mitchell Homes is an employee-owned company that has served more than 3,000 families in southwest Missouri, northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, according to the release.
