Opening day this spring will bring with it a new radio home for the Springfield Cardinals.
SummitMedia LLC's 106.7 The River will host all 138 regular season games and additional postseason matches, according to a news release. Opening day is April 6.
“We’re incredibly excited to partner with SummitMedia and bring all the excitement of Springfield Cardinals baseball to 106.7 The River,” said Dan Reiter, Springfield Cardinals vice president and general manager, in the release. “The River’s great signal will allow for even more Cardinals fans to enjoy listening to the future stars of the St. Louis Cardinals on our broadcast every night. This is a new era of Springfield Cardinals baseball on the radio."
Janelle Moffett, president of SummitMedia-Springfield, declined to disclose financial details of the multiyear agreement.
The Cardinals games previously were broadcast on Zimmer Midwest Communication Inc.'s sports talk radio channel The Jock.
