Spring 2022 Architects & Engineers Project Report: Dake Wells Architecture Inc.

Dake Wells Architecture Inc. is designing the 50,000-square-foot Innovation Lab on the campus of Missouri S&T. Design officials say the $23.7 million project includes co-working and collaboration spaces; a multipurpose lobby, lounge and event  area; spaces for augmented reality and virtual reality activities; and classrooms. This is the first project constructed following S&T’s Arrival District master planning process, and the design creates visual and physical connections to the campus and includes features to reduce energy and water usage. McCownGordon Construction LLC (Kansas City) is the general contractor, and engineering work is by David Mason & Associates Inc. (Perryville), civil; Structural Engineering Associates Inc. (Kansas City), structural; SWT Design Inc. (St. Louis), landscape; Ross & Baruzzini Inc. (St. Louis), mechanical and plumbing; and Antella Consulting Engineers Inc. (Kansas City), electrical. The project is slated for completion by August 2023.
