The Fair Grove R-X School District is installing a new superintendent in its next academic year.
Christian Overstreet is scheduled to take on the school district's top role on July 1, 2025, according to a news release. He'll succeed Mike Bell, who announced his planned retirement from the district in October.
"As the new superintendent, I look forward to building on the strong foundation and vision of success that has been in place for many years," Overstreet said in the release. "This includes a commitment to academic and extracurricular excellence, strong community partnerships and a commitment to supporting Fair Grove Schools' unbelievable teachers, faculty and staff."
Overstreet has around 13 years of experience in education, all of which has been at the Fair Grove district. He's worked for the district as high school principal for the past three years and assistant principal and district athletics and activities director for seven years.
His predecessor, Bell, has had a 25-year career with the Fair Grove R-X School District, serving as superintendent for the last decade.
A separate news release issued in October that announced Bell's planned retirement at the end of the 2024-25 school year credited him with leading efforts to strengthen the district’s financial position and teacher recruitment and retention, as well as implement a four-day school week.
"It’s been an amazing ride, and I look forward to finishing this final year with the same passion and commitment that I’ve always brought to this role," Bell said in the release.
