SBJ Men of the Year raises record $45K for Harmony House

Posted online

Springfield Business Journal last night held its annual Men of the Year event, and with it came a record for the chosen charity partner.

After the honorees were announced July 1, they were invited to fundraise for Harmony House leading up to the awards ceremony. SBJ partners with different area nonprofits for its events to help raise money and awareness.

Fundraising by the honorees brought in $44,965, said Jackie Langdon, Harmony House's communications director.

The largest single fundraiser was Rooney McBride & Smith LLC attorney Scott A. Smith, who raised $25,019 for the domestic violence shelter and services nonprofit, Langdon said.

The previous event record for an SBJ charity partner was The Salvation Army-Springfield. The 2019 SBJ Men of the Year class raised $25,408 for the nonprofit.

Held at Bass Pro Shop's White River Conference Center, the event yesterday recognized the business and civic achievements of 20 men. Click here to view the honorees' profiles.

SBJ started the awards in 2011, and today 240 men in the community have been recognized.
