Sarah Huckabee Sanders, former White House press secretary under President Donald Trump, is headed to the Ozarks.
Sanders, who led Trump’s communications with the media from 2017 until she resigned in June, signed on as the speaker for College of the Ozarks’ annual fall convocation, according to a news release. The Oct. 10 event is being held at the Howell W. Keeter Athletic Complex for what’s dubbed the Leonard B. and Edith Gittinger Community Convocation.
“Her topics will include how a person of faith and conviction serves the country and stands firm in the midst of a storm,” said Sue Head, vice president for cultural affairs and dean of character education at C of O, in the release. “Her remarks are sure to encourage and inspire our students.”
Earlier this month, Fox News announced it signed Sanders as a contributor to provide political commentary and analysis for the network.
In her previous position, she was the third woman — and the first mom — to hold the job of White House press secretary, according to the release.
C of O officials could not be reached for comment by deadline on the cost to bring Sanders to the school.
At previous convocations, C of O has presented such speakers as Steve Forbes, Bill O’Reilly and Dave Ramsey.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
