Renovations are on their way at Missouri State University's Hammons Student Center.
The MSU Board of Governors is scheduled to vote at its Feb. 16 meeting on the bid for the work, according to the meeting agenda.
CB-GC LLC submitted the lone bid for the project, which calls for converting the Hammons Student Center's west gym storage areas into a locker room for new sports and a weight room. Work is scheduled for completion by fall 2024.
The nearly $1.3 million bid by CB-GC LLC includes multiple alternates that are being recommended by MSU staff. The alternates would replace flooring and add light fixtures, among other work.
"While only one bid was received for this project, it is in line with the anticipated costs," the agenda reads.
The total funding source is $2.7 million.
Hammons Student Center, 731 Bear Blvd., was constructed for $5.5 million and is named for late hotelier John Q. Hammons, who donated $1 million to MSU to help finance the operation and maintenance of the building, according to MissouriState.edu. The facility opened in 1976, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. It’s behind Great Southern Bank Arena.
A chance opportunity led to the opening of Nixa’s Haven Games, which this year tripled its storefront space.
