Pyramid Foods converting northwest Springfield Price Cutter

Rogersville-based Pyramid Foods is transitioning another north-side Price Cutter store into a King Food Saver.

Rob Marsh, chief operating officer for Pyramid Foods, said its 335 N. Nolting Ave. Price Cutter store at Chestnut Expressway and West Bypass would open to customers Saturday as a King Food Saver. The store closed temporarily on Monday to make way for the transition, he said.

The flag change represents Phase II of Pyramid Foods' store conversion plan, said Marsh, pointing to the Price Cutter at 1831 W. Kearney St. that recently converted to a King Food Saver. Pyramid Foods also recently closed its Save A Lot grocery store at 1117 E. Commercial St., directing customers to the King Food Saver on West Kearney.

"We opened the Kearney location last month, and the response has been great," Marsh said via email.

King Food Saver sells grocery products at cost, with 10% added at checkout, according to its website. Produce, meat and seafood are among items sold.

Marsh said the Price Cutter at Chestnut and West Bypass opened in November 2010. Greene County assessor records name the owner of the nearly 53,000-square-foot property as Springfield BJ Partners LLC.

Pyramid Foods has nearly 40 stores under multiple banners, according to its LinkedIn profile.
