Oklahoma native Max McGreevy earned $117,000 for his win yesterday at the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.
McGreevy, 25, took home the top spot by one stroke at 21-under 267, according to a news release. José de Jesús Rodríguez came in second at the PGA-sanctioned Korn Ferry Tour event. The event's total purse was $650,000.
“All the volunteers here, I can’t thank you enough,” McGreevy said in the release. “We didn’t have any spectators, but we had a whole heck of a lot of volunteers."
Kary Booher, spokesperson for the PCCC, said around 1,000 volunteers staffed the event. That was about the same as last year, he said.
PGA Tour officials earlier this month ruled out the presence of spectators, due to the coronavirus pandemic, after initially saying they’d be allowed at the July 23-26 event.
Now in its 31st year, the Price Cutter Charity Championship had raised more than $16.5 million for nonprofits throughout the Ozarks prior to this year's tournament. PCCC Executive Director Jerald Andrews has said fundraising would be negatively impacted during this year's event due to the attendance policy and its effect on sponsorships. Booher said an estimate on this year’s fundraising is unknown at this time.
The event had around 400 sponsors, Booher said. Typically, there are nearly 500 sponsors for the annual tournament, according to past reporting.
