Springfield-based Pitt Technology Group LLC is expanding into artificial intelligence.
The Springfield technology company announced in a news release this month that it's rolling out private AI infrastructure solutions.
Kevin Waterland, partner at Pitt Technology Group, said via email that AI has evolved to a place where it's more easily accessible to small businesses, without the massive costs that are often associated with the technology. He compared the current state of AI with the rise of software-based accounting systems that became commonplace in the 1990s.
"We’re not building massive farms of GPU-enabled servers costing hundreds of millions of dollars like Microsoft, Facebook or Google – and that’s exactly the point," Waterland said in the email. "That said, we’ve made significant investments in AI and machine learning over the years, positioning us as one of the first companies in the region to roll out these solutions to our customers."
Pitt Technology Group's AI services include custom training, integration with Microsoft Copilot, hosted AI services and on-premises AI infrastructure, according to the release.
"We’re providing custom and pretrained large language models that run on local, customer-owned/leased hardware to achieve similar functionality to ChatGPT or Copilot – but with a focus on privacy," Waterland said via email. "Our solutions ensure that sensitive company data stays off the cloud, giving businesses full control over their AI while maintaining security and compliance."
Founded in 2017, Pitt Technology Group's services include audio, video and lighting; web and software development; IT support; low-wattage cabling; and cloud and internet solutions, according to past reporting.
