A pizza chain restaurant that had operated in Springfield since 2017 has closed its doors.
Cassandra Forest, a spokeswoman for Pie Five Pizza, confirmed the closure. Additionally, signage has been posted to the door of the 1008 E. Battlefield Road restaurant, referring customers to the chain’s nearest location at Branson Landing. Equipment and seating has been cleared out of the space.
“It was a difficult decision, but the franchisee chose to close their location as it was not performing to their expectations,” Forest said via email.
Rogers, Arkansas-based 3Pointe Restaurant Group Holdings LLC had operated the Springfield location of Pie Five Pizza near the intersection of Battlefield Road and National Avenue, according to past reporting.
Pie Five had been located in a multitenant building with Starbucks and Jersey Mike’s Subs. The shopping center was developed by Branson-based HCW LLC, but it’s now owned by Springfield commercial developer James Tillman’s Battlefield Starbucks Center LLC, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
Pie Five’s entrance into the market came around the same time two locations of Pizza Inn — its sister restaurant — shuttered in Springfield, according to SBJ archives.
Dallas-based parent company Rave Restaurant Group Inc. (Nasdaq: RAVE) lists more than 240 restaurants nationwide under the Pie Five and Pizza Inn brands.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
