Gov. Mike Parson made an appointment for a recently vacated local judgeship.

The governor on Friday announced in a news release the selection of T. Todd Myers as a circuit judge for the 31st Judicial Circuit.

Myers, an associate circuit judge, is being promoted to the role previously held by Thomas Mountjoy, who retired Oct. 31.

Myers was recommended from three finalists and 18 applicants by the 31st Circuit Judicial Commission, according to a separate news release earlier this month.

He was selected over Joshua B. Christensen, an attorney with Kutak Rock LLP, and Kaiti Greenwade, Dade County prosecuting attorney and an attorney with Greenwade Law Firm.

Myers in 2020 was appointed to the associate circuit judge role by Parson, according to past reporting. Myers previously was chief assistant to Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson.

Myers is the latest appointment amid a time of transition for the 31st Judicial Circuit, according to past reporting. Mountjoy, Calvin Holden, Michael Cordonnier and Jason Brown have announced retirements from the circuit.
