Ozark School District breaks ground on bond projects

Posted online

The Ozark School District this morning broke ground on two bond projects that are part of its long-range plan.

The ceremonies marked the start of construction for the Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center and the Ozark Innovation Center, according to a news release. The projects were approved by voters through the district's $26.5 million bond issue last year.

“Not only is it about us investing in the future of our youngest learners, but it’s also about investing in our high schoolers," Superintendent Chris Bauman said in the release.

In preparation for the projects, the district in 2019 purchased a 170,000-square-foot manufacturing plant that's been home to Fasco, Simclar Interconnect Technologies Inc. and Concurrent Manufacturing Solutions LLC.

The Ozark Innovation Center project calls for remodeling work at the former Fasco building. District offices also are being relocated to the building to create room for the Tiger Paw expansion, according to past reporting.

Esterly Schneider & Associates Inc. is serving as architect for both projects, said district spokesperson Amelia Wigton. DeWitt & Associates Inc. was hired as a construction manager at risk for the Ozark Innovation Center, she said.

Additional bidding is in the works for both projects, according to the release. They're slated for completion in August 2022.
