The Ozark School District Board of Education has a new president in place.

The board voted April 14 to appoint newly reelected member Sarah Adams Orr as its 2022-23 president, according to a news release issued yesterday. Patty Quessenberry was elected as the board's vice president.

“I welcome this opportunity to serve our community and to help our district continue on its path of excellence,” said Orr, who is starting her 10th year on the board, in the release. “I’m proud that our district has always been committed to having the best educational resources in the region for our students, as well as award-winning student activities, athletics and organizations."

During the meeting, Orr and new member Mark Jenkins were sworn in to their board terms after being elected on April 5 by voters.

The election this month also resulted in a successful bond issue for the Ozark School District. With the $19 million no-tax bond issue, the district plans to construct three storm shelters, according to past reporting.

“Ms. Orr is very experienced with the board, and I greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with her as we move forward with our bond projects," district Superintendent Chris Bauman said in the release.
