Downtown staple Patton Alley Pub has been listed on the market.

Owner Eric Zackrison, who’s lived in California for seven years, is seeking a sale of the 313 S. Patton Ave. bar and restaurant he founded in 2003, according to a news release from the Springfield-Branson office of VR Business Sales, the broker hired for the listing.

Reached this morning, Zackrison said he wants to focus on his Santa Barbara business consultancy IDI.Us Inc., as well as his management and business communication courses as a professor at the University of California.

“Operating it from that distance, it’s just a burden,” Zackrison said. “We love being in downtown, but it became time to look at being able to devote my time and energy to my business here.”

Only the business is up for sale, as the property is separately owned.

Patton Alley Pub is the last Springfield holding for Zackrison, who previously operated fine-dining restaurant Agrario and the upstairs Bodega Bar adjacent to Patton Alley Pub, as well as Hickok’s Steakhouse across the street. Zackrison sold the downtown building to the Jalili family of restaurateurs in 2008 as part of a bankruptcy filing that forced the closure of his Agrario and Bodega Bar concepts, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. Hickok’s Steakhouse, a partnership with downtown developer Scott Tillman, also closed in 2008.

Zackrison this morning said Agrario and Bodega Bar led to the bankruptcy filing and “the pub has always generated revenue.” He noted he recently signed a new five-year lease with the Jalilis for the 6,000 square feet occupied by Patton Alley Pub.

Jerry Myers of VR Business Sales said Patton Alley Pub was listed for sale at $150,000. The restaurant and bar last year produced $756,110 in gross revenue, which was down from $793,973 in 2017 and $854,526 in 2016, according to information provided by Myers.
