O’Reilly Hospitality switches up names at north-side development

O’Reilly Hospitality Management LLC made some name changes to its development in far north Springfield as finishing touches are being completed at its new barn-like event center.

Moon Town Crossing, which formerly was the name for the craftsman-style event space at 3070 N. Kentwood Ave., is now the moniker for the entire development that also includes the recently opened Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Macadoodles and Tropical Smoothie Cafe. The event venue switched names to Barley House, according to an email sent from its sales and operations manager, Cassidy Palmer. 

Palmer this morning said the new name is a play on the etymology of the words barley and barn. The word barn used to mean "barley-house," according to “The Glutton’s Glossary.”

Palmer said the inside of the venue is slated to be completed this week, with the patio area scheduled to be finished by April 2. 

Larry Snyder and Co. served as general contractor with Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective as architect for the $13 million Holiday Inn Express & Suites, as well as the newly renamed Barley House. The estimated cost for the event venue is $334,764, according to a city building permit.

The 111-room, nearly 63,000-square-foot hotel opened Feb. 1, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

The event venue held its first event, a monthly open house, on Jan. 13. A second open house is scheduled tomorrow, according to Palmer. SBJ’s May 23 Dynamic Dozen awards ceremony is scheduled to be held at Barley House.

The development is located at the northwest corner of Interstate 44 and Glenstone Avenue.
