As O'Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) shares recently returned to trading above $700, a handful of company executives and board members conducted a flurry of trades.

Collectively, the company officials made roughly $11.3 million from the trades in late July and early August, according to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings.

The top trader was board Chair Greg Henslee, who recorded stock sales valued at $5.8 million on Aug. 3, according to an SEC filing. He utilized SEC transaction code M, through which executives can buy awarded shares at set rates and sell them later at market prices.

The recent trades, by value, are:
• Henslee, $5.8 million;
• David O'Reilly, board executive vice chair, $5 million;
• Dana Perlman, board member, $281,389;
• John Raymond Murphy, board member, $211,647; and
• Andrea Weiss, board member, $70,884.

O'Reilly Automotive late last month reported $576.8 million in second-quarter profits, a 1.5% drop from a year earlier.

ORLY stock, which climbed above $700 after the release of the quarterly earnings report, was trading at $723.93 per share as of 10:17 a.m. The stock's 52-week high of $748.68 per share was recorded April 21.
