O’Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) President and CEO Greg Johnson maintained his status as the company's top-paid executive in 2021, according to the auto parts retailer's latest proxy filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Johnson's total compensation last year was $12.8 million, a 42% jump from nearly $9 million in 2020, according to the SEC filing. His salary was $1.3 million, up from $1.2 million, though most of the increase was brought on by a bump in nonequity incentive plan compensation.

Jeff Shaw, O'Reilly Automotive’s former chief operating officer and co-president who retired earlier this year, was the second highest-paid executive during 2021. His total compensation rose 40% to roughly $8 million.

O'Reilly Automotive's top executives in 2021, by total compensation, were:
• Johnson, $12.8 million, up 42%;
• Shaw, $8 million, up 40%:
• Tom McFall, chief financial officer, $7 million, up 36.4%;
• Brent Kirby, executive vice president of supply chain, $3.9 million, N/A;
• Brad Beckham, executive vice president of store operations and sales, $3.8 million, N/A;
• David O'Reilly, executive vice chair of the board, $1.088 million, down 5.2%; and
• Greg Henslee, executive chair of the board, $1.086 million, up 5.6%.

Kirby and Beckham previously were not named officers in the company's proxy report, so their total compensation in prior years was not disclosed, according to the SEC filing.

In 2021, O'Reilly Automotive reported $2.2 billion in net income on $13.3 billion in revenue, according to past reporting.

ORLY shares were trading at $684.31 as of 9:28 a.m., compared with a 52-week range of $506.51 to $710.86 per share.
