Merriam-Webster defines resilience as “the ability to become strong, healthy or successful again after something bad happens” and “the ability of something to return to its original shape after it has been pulled, stretched, pressed or bent.”
It is no surprise that the 12th class of Springfield Business Journal’s Health Care Champions has been pulled, stretched, bent and pressed over these last 18 months. However, this group has proven to be a remarkable definition of resilience.
The entire list of these professionals has innovatively paved the way to recovery in our community.
This recovery has been challenging not only in the health care community but also in every facet of society. From education to economy, crucial decisions have involved many of the brave heroes of this year’s class. They have consistently stood for these institutions which at times would question if they could survive these insurmountable changes.
These honorees have addressed challenges in each of their areas and implemented successful plans to not only survive but also thrive in the next stage of the recovery. They lead with grace and integrity and a measure of courage that truly defines the word champion.
I am privileged to be a part of this consortium as a past honoree. It is most appropriate as we enter this month of Thanksgiving that we continue to give thanks to all of those who work on the front lines. Remembering that the sacrifice not only comes in the work that they do, but also in the consistency for which they show up every single day. Thanks to SBJ for its recognition of these individuals who are our inspiration of strength, health and success as we return to our original shape.
