Tru by Hilton
Delayed by weather from a targeted summer opening, Tru by Hilton launched Nov. 26 in center city. At 517 E. Elm St., six houses were demolished to make way for the four-story, 98-room hotel. Bryan Properties LLC developed the nearly 40,500-square-foot property, which was designed by H Design Group LLC and built by Crossland Construction Co. Inc. for around $9.5 million, said hotel General Manager Yulia Whittington. Springfield is the second Missouri city for Tru by Hilton, preceded by St. Charles. Hilton (NYSE: HLT) introduced the boutique-style concept in 2016, and 110 are operating nationally, said Whittington, who leads a staff of 24. Hotel amenities include complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi, an indoor swimming pool, fitness room, business center and a 24/7 market selling snacks, light-meal options and single-serve wine and beer.

Abilities First
Springfield-based nonprofit Abilities First merged two offices Sept. 28 into a new home at 3216 S. National Ave. Abilities First was using office space at 1370 E. Primrose St. and 230 S. Market Ave., before consolidating operations into the roughly 24,000-square-foot building, said Julie Jones, assistant executive director. Officials signed a 10-year lease with The Wooten Co. for an undisclosed rate. TeleTech Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: TTEC) previously housed a satellite office in the building. Most of the nonprofit’s 164 employees work at the National Avenue office, Jones said. Ten staff its Artisan Elements program, which uses recycled materials to create products, including wall tiles and tabletops. The nonprofit promotes inclusive opportunities for people of all ages with developmental disabilities through training, case management and employment services, creative arts classes and retail operations. Among them are upscale reseller Inspired Boutique and First Steps, which provides early intervention for families with children up to age 3 with developmental disabilities.

Mercy Clinic Family Medicine-Scenic
Mercy Springfield Communities’ first newly constructed primary care clinic in 20 years in the Queen City opened Nov. 13. Dubbed Mercy Clinic Family Medicine-Scenic, the 2716 W. Republic Road facility replaces a smaller clinic next door. Mercy last year demolished a few residential properties on the 2-acre site to make way for the $5.8 million, 13,000-square-foot clinic. Mercy spokeswoman Sonya Kullmann said five health care providers and 10 support staff members work at the clinic, with room for up to five more providers. The clinic also has a full-service lab and imaging equipment. She said Ozark-based Snyder Construction Group LLC was the general contractor on the project developed by Pitt Development Group LLC. The clinic is part of some $150 million in southwest Missouri capital projects Mercy reported it was working on this summer.
