Open for Business: Rovenstine Landscaping

Rovenstine Landscaping
After nearly five years operating as a home-based business, Rovenstine Landscaping LLC opened its first brick-and-mortar store at 250 N. Lemmon Ave. in Bolivar. Owner Devon Rovenstine declined to disclose startup costs for the store, which included purchase of an existing 5,200-square-foot building on a nearly 1.5-acre lot from Summers Developments LLC. Rovenstine leads a staff of six for the company, which offers landscape, irrigation and hardscape design and installation services for commercial and residential markets. With its new retail location, he said the business sells a variety of landscape materials for contractors and homeowners. These include bulk decorative rock, mulch, outdoor lighting, topsoil, shrubbery and trees. Rovenstine said the motivation for purchasing a shop location was to improve his company’s efficiency and stock of landscaping products. He’s worked in the landscaping industry most of his career, he said, including helping family in Stockton at his father’s retail garden center, Rovenstine Greenhouse.

Dunkin’
Bapa Network LLC added to its Dunkin’ lineup with the May 14 opening of a northwest Springfield shop at 3310 W. Chestnut Expressway, just east of West Bypass. Unlike the franchisee’s 2-year-old 1614 S. Glenstone Ave. shop, which includes ice cream with a Baskin-Robbins addition, the new store is just about doughnuts. Girish Patel, who co-owns the franchise group with his brother, Rajendra Patel, said the 2,000-square-foot shop employs a staff of 35, including 10 full-time. Declining to disclose startup costs, Girish Patel said BP Builders LLC was general contractor for the project designed by Wichita, Kansas-based Clarkitecture LLC. He said Bapa Network identified the location as a hub of activity with significant foot traffic and noticed a gap in the market for quality coffee and quick bites in the area. Other Bapa Network-owned stores in the area include a Dunkin’ at 2534 S. Campbell Ave., which launched in 2022, and a Carthage location at 2424 Fairlawn Drive, which opened in fall 2023.

WinTech
Monett-based window manufacturer Window Technology Inc., which does business as WinTech, on May 9 closed on the purchase of 100% of the stock of Arkansas-based company Pocahontas Aluminum Co. Chesney Beck, vice president of sales and marketing for WinTech, said terms of the acquisition are undisclosed. Officials at WinTech, founded in 1991, said the deal fit into the company’s strategic growth plans as the 61-year-old Pocahontas Aluminum, headquartered in Pocahontas, Arkansas, also is a window and door manufacturer. Beck said the Arkansas company’s 87 employees add to WinTech’s roughly 195-person workforce. As part of the deal, Pocahontas Aluminum continues to operate under its brand name and maintains its Arkansas operations. WinTech, which operates its Monett plant at 201 Industrial Drive, also has a manufacturing facility in Cassville. The company was sold to its employees in 2006.
