KC’s Shaved Ice LLC dba Sno Biz
Brother and sister Kyler and Carrington Peace are the new Springfield franchisees of a Sno Biz shaved ice operation after a July 11 purchase from Tim and Kas Clegg, the founders of Hurts Donut Co. The siblings bought the business for $125,000, including five trailers and the Cleggs’ inventory of shaved ice flavors. Clegg’s father, also named Tim, started operating the local Sno Biz in 2003. The Peaces’ franchise operation, organized under KC’s Shaved Ice LLC, is set up in the Queen City at 1707 W. Battlefield Road and 3260 E. Battlefield Road. Kyler Peace said nine are on staff in Springfield. Their family has operated a Sno Biz trailer outside Bennett Springs State Park in Lebanon the past three years, and the siblings say they’ll keep it running. The first-time business owners graduated college in May – Kyler from Missouri State University and Carrington from Southwest Baptist University.

Ink Print & Sign
A June 1 rebranding for Ink Print & Sign, formerly 417 Print Shop, included a move to a new home. Owner Jason Hemingway relocated the office to 2,500 square feet at 1860 W. Arbor St., Ste. 108, from Hammons Tower downtown. Ink Print & Sign is a full-service print shop for projects including logo design, brochures, vehicle graphics, branded office supplies, banners and tents. With a staff of five, it also offers website design services, said Sales Director Vanessa Grimaldi. She declined to disclose rebranding and relocation costs and lease information. Grimaldi said the new name aims to expand the company’s reach.

Ozarks Mobile Chiropractic LLC
Making a professional and personal transition in 2018, Samantha Steed opened Ozarks Mobile Chiropractic LLC on May 17. As a first-time business owner, Steed is the lone employee, and from her home, she makes house calls for chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue work for patients of all ages. New patient exams are $60 for children up to 12 years old and $75 for adults. Startup costs were $3,000. Steed previously worked for St. Joseph Early Education Center in Shawnee, Kansas, when she injured her back in 2013. She said that exposed her to the chiropractic field, and inspired her to attend Cleveland University-Kansas City in Overland Park, Kansas. She earned a bachelor’s degree and doctorate of chiropractic in 2018, relocating to Springfield that same year with her husband, Jacob. She said her operating hours are currently limited due to her new baby, who was born June 12.
